It is a fantastic summary, a retrospective even, and not the kind of nostalgic retro-fetishism that comes out of VH1. There is life in this music, oozing from the textures of the layered sounds, interspersed with jabs of clean, forceful kick drums and skittering beats. There is a quiet melancholy, seeping through the layers like wet paint, but it all works together, breathing. Favorite track: in the distance.
